Pectoralis Minor
Pectoralis Minor Stretch for Rounded Shoulders
Think about your position after several hours at a computer. For many employees, the shoulders gradually move forward while the body settles closer to the screen.
Prolonged desk work can contribute to shortening through the muscles at the front of the chest, including the pectoralis minor.
Why Stretch the Pectoralis Minor?
The pectoralis minor stretch focuses on opening the front of the chest after extended periods of forward and rounded positioning.
Workplace Kinetics often pairs this movement with upper-back stretching and strengthening education as part of a broader approach to workplace posture.
How to Do the Stretch
Stand beside a doorway or corner wall.
Position one or both arms against the wall at approximately shoulder height.
Stagger your feet for balance.
Gently move your body forward.
Stop when you feel a comfortable stretch through the chest.
Suggested duration: 3 rounds of 30 seconds.
Don't Stay in One Position All Day
Good workplace ergonomics isn't about finding one "perfect" posture and holding it for eight hours. Movement matters.
