Upper Trapezius
Upper Trapezius Stretch for Neck and Shoulder Tension at Work
During a busy workday, employees may gradually begin elevating their shoulders or holding tension through the neck and upper body without realizing it.
The upper trapezius is one of the muscles affected by this positioning.
Why Stretch the Upper Trapezius?
Workplace Kinetics' workplace stretch education focuses on gently lengthening muscles that may become shortened after long periods in the same position.
Regular movement breaks also give employees an opportunity to reset their posture and become more aware of how they are sitting.
How to Do the Upper Trapezius Stretch
Sit upright in your chair.
Place one hand behind your back to help keep that shoulder down.
Gently tilt your head toward the opposite shoulder.
Stop when you feel a comfortable stretch along the side of your neck and upper shoulder.
Suggested duration: 3 rounds of 30 seconds on each side.
Make Workplace Movement Practical
Workplace wellness doesn't always require a major program or complicated equipment.
