Piriformis
Seated Piriformis Stretch for Desk Workers
The piriformis is a small muscle located deep within the hip. When employees spend much of the workday sitting, the hips remain in a relatively static position for extended periods.
A seated piriformis stretch provides a simple way to change that position without needing a gym or dedicated workout space.
How to Do the Seated Piriformis Stretch
Sit securely in your chair.
Place one ankle across the opposite leg.
Gently lower the raised knee.
For a deeper stretch, lean slightly forward from your waist.
Stop when you feel a comfortable stretch through the hip.
Suggested duration: 3 rounds of 30 seconds on each side.
Avoid forcing the knee downward. The stretch should remain comfortable and controlled.
